A unique laboratory “Technologies of Rehabilitation and Selection in Sport” was established at the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Youth Policy of Ural Federal University. The laboratory is equipped with professional facilities which are presented only in our laboratory in the Ural Federal Region.
Research programs are designed for professional athletes and national teams and for active people engaged in amateur sports, physical culture and fitness as well as for children and young athletes.
The results of comprehensive studies in the laboratory help to select promising athletes, monitor the general and specialized training level, contribute to determining the factors that are limiting athletes’ success and allow to correct the training process.
The laboratory offers medical and biological support to Ural Federal University teams, which allows our athletes to achieve harm-free sports results. The laboratory also cooperates with professional teams of the Sverdlovsk region, provides comprehensive testing for athletes and advisory support to coaches.
The laboratory is also involved in the education process—practical and laboratory classes, research activities, including students’ research projects. Postgraduate students and Master’s degree students have the possibility to do their research in the laboratory. The results of the conducted research are published in leading Russian and foreign academic journals.
Laboratory staff are highly qualified specialists in the field of sports medicine and sports science. The head of the laboratory is Dr. K. Mehdiyeva, doctor of sports medicine, exercise therapy, functional diagnostics, Ph.D., assistant professor at the Academic Department of Service and Health Technologies.
Senior Researcher - Anna Zakharova, Professor, Master of Sports of the USSR, Ph.D., Professor of the Department of Physical Culture, Head of the Research Group "Sports Technologies". The laboratory staff have done internships at leading international and Russian universities and research organizations: Cambridge University, South Bank
London University, Bologna University, Strasbourg University, European College of Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, Moscow Humanitarian Medical University named after Sechenov, etc. The results of their research are regularly presented at international congresses and conferences: icSPORTS, ECSScongress 2014, ICMMB, ACSM, ECSM, etc.
